Does the Lt. Gov. Have a Point?

I definitely sense political opportunism in Lt Governor Dan Patrick’s call for mandatory background checks for stranger-to-stranger gun sales.  But, he does have a point!

I’m license-to-carry and rabidly pro-gun, but..I want to be able to NAIL someone if they sell a gun to a nut job or terrorist in the making, like in Odessa or El Paso.  So, I agree with Patrick’s call for those background checks.  You may not support this for family to family purchases or family to friend—but—here’s the big question I have: Can we nail them if they sell the gun, and it’s obvious to US this person should not have been able to buy one?  If not, then include them, too.

For example, do YOU trust the mother of the terrorist who killed 22 in El Paso? She called the police non-emergency line, but didn’t give any info, nor express any concern about her son harming anyone.  I bet she could’ve shared a lot more than a quick, anonymous, innocent call.
