Collin County Trusts You to Self-Regulate

 As I reported yesterday before the news broke, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties would follow Dallas County in their "Shelter In Place" order.

What I didn't see coming was Collin County Judge Chris Hill's ridiculous fake "Shelter In Place" order.  Unlike the other 3 counties that comprise the core of DFW, if you consider your business "essential", you're ok to stay open.  

Haircuts? Yes!  Nails? Yes!  Shopping for the latest trends?  Yes, just tell 'em it's "essential"!;)

The only businesses that are shut down are "entertainment" places..and "you know who you are".

This also applies to all of Collin's residents, too.  If you're shopping for the latest trends: "NO!".  But if you SAY it's "essential", you're golden,baby!

In a nutshell, self-regulation.  Well, how's it working out for us in the toilet paper aisle (see above)?  Do you trust these clowns to "self regulate"?  

Absent from Hill's press conference was an actual Dr.  No county health official--and Self admitted he didn't consult any.  Now, THAT'S how you stop Covid-19! ;)

If Collin runs out of hospital beds, will they ask the other 3 counties for them?  If they run out of respirators, will they ask for theirs?  Will their patients seek treatment in the other 3, if their hospitals become overwhelmed in 3-5 weeks?

More importantly--will they infringe on the other 3 counties by spreading the virus just as they're getting it under control?  Imagine that: Sacrifice, economic hardship..only to have it ruined by a County Judge that gambled on your health for money and lost.  

Bad, bad decision.  Look for Gov Abbott to pop up and then Hill to change his mind quickly like Judge Whitely did in Tarrant.  Look for tremendous pressure to come down on him from the other counties and the Collin County hospitals.  Look for some hospitals or Dr.'s to come out publicly against this.

PS-I'm TOTALLY cool with Gov. Abbott NOT declaring shelter in place for all of TX.  As he said, so many rurual counties that don't have it.  If it gets to that point, like in Collin, he will.

PPS-I'm emailing the top 2 Medical Officials in Collin for comment..this will be interesting!
